Presidents Challenge – thanks

Fellow Turners:  I know I don’t have thank each of you individually who participated in the President’s Challenge because I  know the children who get your lovingly made work will be overjoyed.  My truest wish would be that come next year Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite would no longer need to exist.  But while [...]

Presidents Message

Fellow turners,  Just a few brief comments are in order.  As expected the demonstration last Wednesday evening was just plain fun.  The demonstrator, a delightful Englishman, had a different word for everything, a wonderful sense of humor and his skill level certainly made it look easy.  I know those who attended truly enjoyed the evening.

Presidents Message and Challenge

Our chapter of AAW was officially formed one year ago ( July 25th,2007 ) and I am so very proud of all the hard work that has gone into making our club a success. Our membership has grown steadily all due to your individual support. We exist in no small part to the continued support of Woodcraft and I can’t thank them enough for helping make this all possible. As a founding member and the club’s first president I hope I have set a direction for the club that will enable it to grow and prosper long into the future. We exist because of our common enjoyment in woodworking and especially the art of turning. WOOD ! The varieties and colors astonish, its usefulness unlimited and , when cared for, it can last for hundreds if not thousands of years. Mother nature even petrified it so that it would last forever.

He also works for the Red Cross and has repeatedly had to cancel appointments to demonstrate for us due to inconsiderate disasters which demanded his attention.

Presidents Message – July

Fellow Turners: The July meeting was very well attended and for those of you who were unable to attend, the mystery man, Hal Simmons, presented an enjoyable demonstration. He reminded us that things don’t always go as planned, but then, that is why I enjoy turning so much. If every piece turned out as I envisioned, where would the challenge be?

I want to thank again those members who contributed to our show and tell portion. Everyone who brought a piece to show can be rightfully proud of their respective accomplishments.
