Update: Nick Cook had a scheduling conflict and Joe Gettys will sub for him. Same demo.

Joe Gettys will be our demonstrator. Joe is no stranger to us in the Atlanta area. His skill on the lathe and his humorous wit makes for an entertaining demo. Joe will demonstrate turning a bowl using the Easy Wood Tools Carbide scrapers. If time permits, expect to see a Xmas ornament as well. [...]
Rudy Lopez from Tampa, Florida will demonstrate an end grain vase. He began working with his hands at a very young age and began to develop his creative eye through photography, his first artistic pursuit. With an education in drafting and design, and drawing inspiration from the surroundings of his youth, Rudy began his relationship with wood as a craftsman of fine furniture and cabinetry. His desire to explore wood-turning began to develop when he received a natural-edge bowl as a Christmas gift from his best friend a couple of years ago. His natural sense of curiosity has led him to explore the techniques necessary to transform wood from a simple rough chunk into an object of aesthetic beauty. Rudy’s pieces have been featured in the "Rounding The Four Corners" exhibit 2008, and "Restful Places-Cremation Urns and Objects" 2009, at the AAW Gallery of Wood Art in St. Paul, Minnesota. Go to http://www.rudolphlopez.com to view more of Rudy’s work.

He spent 11 years doing this, and 37 years teaching wood-machining and woodturning apprentices at a technical college. He has demonstrated in Australia, New [...]
Mark Sfirri is our special demonstrator this month.
Mark is a resident of New Hope, Pennsylvania. He is a teacher, furniture maker, sculptor and woodturner. Much of Mark’s work centers around lathe turned objects and shapes. Many of his pieces are turned on several axes and this has allowed Mark to explore form in a spontaneous, mathematical, and creative way. He has collaborated with other artists including painter Robert Dodge and Michael Hosaluk, from Canada. Mark tries to inject humor into his work through form and surface orientation.
