AWG members,
May Demonstration. This Wednesday, 5/19/10, we will host Rudy Lopez from Tampa Florida. Rudy will turn an end grain vase as his demonstration piece. Rudy was at last month’s Southern States Symposium in Gainesville and proved to be an excellent demonstrator! You can read more about him and his attitudes towards woodturning here: http://atlantawoodturnersguild.org/wp/2010/05/meeting-notice-may-19-2010/#more-904
Editor for AWG Bulletin. I am Happy to announce that Betty Fugate has volunteered to act as our editor. She will be assisting the club by compiling announcements and articles written by club members and emailing these to the membership around the first week each month. Our objective is to provide communication and a reminder that we still exist between the meetings. We will keep it to a few emails with solid content.
Website. In case you haven’t checked out the new website, it can be viewed here. One of my favorite features is the slideshow of the Show and Tell pieces. http://atlantawoodturnersguild.org/wp/
”Got wood?” I am proud to announce that our club has grown quite well this year and we now have over 50 members, making us one of the larger clubs in Georgia! One thoughtful point recently raised to the board is that our raffle is not as well stocked as it might be for a club of this size. Aside from dues, the raffle is our only source of income and we would like to see it continue to do well and grow!
To this end, I would solicit the membership to bring in wood, tools, turning kits, etc. which you do not expect to use and contribute these materials to the raffles. If you get first dibs on a neighbor’s fallen tree, grab an extra piece for the club! I have seen this process work well for the Georgia Association of Woodturners and believe it will help fill out our raffle. Thank you for your assistance!
Cheers,
Kurt
