BOARD MINUTES

October 2009

The scheduled board meeting for the Atlanta Woodturning Guild met with quorum in place and was called to order by the president Bob Greenberg at 5. 45pm 21 October 2009.

A motion to accept the September minutes as written was presented and accepted unanimously.

Treasury Report

Doug Lichliter reported that the Guild has $2400.00 in the treasury and that 2010 dues are slowly beginning to be received.

General Business

Tom Smith reported that with the additional funds approved for the library he now has 8 videos in the library which include 2 that were donated.

Bob Greenberg announced that the Guild will not participate in the Woodworking Show in January 2010. He stated that there was much confusion in talking with the organizers as to exactly how the booth(s) would be organized with other woodturning clubs and could not get a definitive answer from them.

Bob also announced to the board the proposed slate of officers for 2010 submitted by the Nominating Committee. The committee consisted of Mike Peace and Allen Quandee. The board formally expressed their thanks to both individuals for their assistance in putting together the list.

Bob further stated that he would announce the nominees and ask for nominations from the floor at the general meeting following.

Director (Board member at Large) Harvey Meyer – continuing his 3rd year as Program Chair

Director (Board Member at Large) Mike Peace

Director (Ex Officio Board Member) Bob Greenberg – Past President

There was a general discussion on the December meeting as to what should be done to celebrate the holiday with the members. The general consensus was to host a pizza party similar to the function held by AWG each December.

  1. A motion was presented by Denis Matt

To budget $200.00 to cater a holiday function at Woodcraft for the Guild members with pizza and soft drinks. The function would be supplemented with secret Santa gifts from attending members not to exceed $10.00 each.

The motion was seconded by Harvey Meyer, put to the vote and approved unanimously.

A motion was presented by Harvey Meyer

  1. The Guild in crease the monthly meeting budget for gifts to $50.00 to include two $20.00 gift cards and one piece of wood to be purchased from Woodcraft prior to each meeting.

The motion was seconded by Doug Lichliter, put to the vote and approved unanimously.

The President then asked if there was any new business to be discussed. There being none he adjourned the meeting at 6.20pm.
