BOARD MINUTES
July 2009
The scheduled board meeting for the Atlanta Woodturners Guild met with a quorum in place. The meeting was called to order by the president Bob Greenberg at 5.40pm 15 July 2009.
A motion to accept the June 2009 board minutes as written was accepted unanimously.

General Business
There was general discussion on the best way to obtain better use of our web site by the membership. Usage is very low with very few members taking advantage of the information available on the site. Each month the “presidents message” to the membership is sent via blanket e-mail to Guild members. It was decided that Bob will post his monthly message on the web site and then send an e-mail to all members asking them to go to the web site to read it
.
The board had a general discussion on our web site in particular changes and postings. Although our current volunteer Webmaster does a superb job of maintaining the site, through no fault of his own, but due to his many other commitments cannot respond to Guild requests as quickly as it would be liked.
At the general meeting Bob will ask for a volunteer to be our Webmaster and also develop and post a newsletter each month on the web site.
Steve Quehl of Woodcraft has donated his shop to the Atlanta Woodturners Guild and the Woodworkers Guild of Georgia on Sunday 11 October from 12pm to 5pm. This time will be used by volunteers from the membership of both Guilds to manufacture toys. These toys will then be donated to the Children’s Hospital along with five cartons of Crayola crayons. We would like to see 10 members volunteer to make toys on the 11 October and support our club for this wonderful cause.
A motion was presented by Chris Burfield
- That the Atlanta Woodturners Guild donate $200.00 to purchase Crayola crayons to be donated along with toys to the Children’s Hospital.
The motion was seconded by Harvey Meyer, put to the vote and passed unanimously
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6.20pm.
