BOARD MINUTES

January 21^st 2009

The scheduled board meeting for the Atlanta Woodturners Guild met as scheduled with a quorum in place. It was called to order by the President Mr. Bob Greenberg at 5.40pm January 21^st 2009.

A motion to accept the minutes of the previous meeting as written was made by Chris Burfield and seconded by Harvey Meyer. It was approved unanimously.

General Business

Bob Greenberg introduced Mike Mahoney our demonstrator for the evening who was also our guest at the board meeting.

Bob Greenberg announced that Steve Quehl of Woodcraft had very graciously offered a 10% discount to all Guild members on purchases that they make from Woodcraft while attending the monthly Guild meetings.

There was general discussion on the merits of charging a mandatory fee or asking for an individual monetary donation for admission to the Guild meetings when a special or professional woodturner had been contracted to perform a demonstration. After much input from various board members no satisfactory conclusion was reached. It was therefore decided to defer any further discussion until after this evenings meeting and demonstration by Mike Mahoney. The outcome of this evening’s demonstration relative to fees will be tabled until the next board meeting.
