Our next meeting will be on Wednesday , October 15th 7PM at Woodcraft. Many of you already know that the demonstration will be presented by the representative from Robert Sorby. A few years ago my club in California was fortunate enough to have one of Sorby’s reps. come and do the demonstration. It was both a learning experience and a lot of fun presented by a highly skilled professional. You will get to see a variety of turning tools used and how they can be utilized to improve your work.
Since I use Robert Sorby tools almost exclusively, I intend to take advantage of the 20% discount being offered on all Robert Sorby Tools. I believe the sale has actually begun so you can shop early if you know what you want. Additionally, Woodcraft is having a sale on lathes if you are in the market.
It is that time of year when our club must elect a slate of officers who will lead us into the future. Since we are only one year old I am hopeful that many of our present officers and board members will consider continuing in their present positions and/or move up in line. Our treasurer and our vice president will, unfortunately, not be able to continue as officers due to other obligations. At the October meeting I will be asking for two members to volunteer to serve as a nomination committee. Your duty will be to ask members to run for the respective office they are interested in. At the November meeting you will present their names into nomination, their names will be posted on our web site and the election will take place at the December meeting.
I am sure that none of you have forgotten about the president’s challenge. If you haven’t gotten around to it, don’t fret, there is plenty of time between now and next Wednesday. Not only is it lots of fun turning these trees and/or whatever else you are making, think about all the fun the hospitalized children will have coloring them. I can assure you that your small effort will go a long way in brightening their days in the hospital and at home. Remember to bring them to our next meeting.
